TOURNAMENT POLICIES

Participants in Northern California Golf Association tournaments must read the following information.  Players are responsible for knowing the rules and regulations concerning participation in NCGA events.

CONDITIONS OF PLAY: The Northern California Golf Association reserves the right to decline or withdraw any entry at any time.  Any person whose entry is accepted shall be subject to the rules and conditions of play set forth by the NCGA.  Any act of unsportsmanlike conduct, including but not limited to the use of obscene or abusive language, will be cause for disqualification.  NOTE: The NCGA will not make any provisions for a player asking for special consideration due to other commitments.  In other words, make it your lone project for the day.

OFFICIAL TIME: The clock at the tee (1st or 10th) where the player begins his/her stipulated round is the official time of starting.  Starters will not page players in advance of their starting time.  Players should report to the tee one starting interval prior to their starting time.

TOURNAMENT ELIGIBILITY: NCGA tournaments (except the NCGA Junior Championship) are open to amateur golfers who are members of a current NCGA member club in good standing.  This includes being in compliance with the Handicap Certification Program.  Members of clubs that are not in compliance will not be allowed to participate in NCGA tournaments.  The USGA’s definition of an amateur golfer is the standard of the NCGA.  Applicants must have a current numeric index (CI) listed on the master report of the month of entry closing and meet all the eligibility requirements for the event they are entering.  Any member who has not established a current numeric index is ineligible.  For club events multi-members can only represent ONE club.

TOURNAMENT ENTRY DEADLINES: All NCGA tournaments may be entered at any time provided the entry is received by the entry closing date.  For those entering ONLINE, registration must be completed by 12 MIDNIGHT, day of close.  The closing dates are located on the tournament calendar.  Entries should be mailed at least 7 working days prior to the closing date to assure mail delivery.  NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.  THE NCGA DOES NOT ACCEPT TELEPHONE, FAX, E-MAIL OR WALK-IN ENTRIES.

MAILING YOUR ENTRIES/QUALIFYING CERTIFICATES:  All mailed entries must be received through the NCGA Lock Box in San Francisco.  Address to: Northern California Golf Association, Department #44323, P.O. Box 44000, San Francisco, CA 94144-4323.  To overnight entries you must use the United States Post Office Express Mail ONLY.  All other carriers will not deliver to a P.O.  Box.  ENTRIES MAILED DIRECTLY TO THE NCGA OFFICES WILL BE RETURNED.

ONLINE REGISTRATION: Available for all events at www.ncga.org.  When registration is completed, a player’s credit card will be charged the full qualifying fee.  If a player withdraws, he/she will receive a refund less a $5.00 online service fee.  If the player qualifies for the championship proper the credit card will be charged once more for the championship fee.  The registration process MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO MIDNIGHT or your entry will be date stamped for the next day and be rejected.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION: Information concerning course assignment, pairings, starting times, etc. will be e-mailed to the player or each team member approximately 10-14 days prior to the event and also posted on the NCGA website (www.ncga.org).  If you do not have an e-mail address the information will be mailed to the address on your entry.  If you have not received your information within seven days of the event, it is YOUR responsibility to contact the NCGA Rules & Competitions Dept.  DO NOT CALL MORE THAN SEVEN DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT.

TOURNAMENT ENTRY FEES: Entry fees for all tournaments cover GREEN FEES ONLY at the qualifying and/or championship sites.  They DO NOT include golf carts.  Golf carts, whether optional or mandatory, are the individual player’s responsibility unless otherwise specified for a particular event.

HANDICAP ADJUSTMENTS: The NCGA reserves the right to adjust a player’s handicap prior to any net competition based upon previous performances in NCGA events.

COURSE HANDICAPS: The current index as of the qualifying and/or championship date is used to determine the player’s course handicap for most  NCGA tournaments.  Refer to tournament description.

NCGA MEMBERSHIP:  When filling out your entry application, it is important that you list your NCGA membership number and club number (found in the back of the Bluebook under Golf Course/Club Listings).  NCGA club numbers begin with 53 or 63.  All other club numbers are invalid.  If you have changed clubs between the time you sent in your application and the tournament, it is your responsibility to notify the Rules and Competitions Department of the change.  Additionally, you must have a current NCGA numeric index at the time of the entry closing date.  If you are representing a team, you must be a member in good standing of that club.  FOR CLUB EVENTS, MULTI-MEMBERS CAN ONLY REPRESENT ONE CLUB.  NCGA membership is not official until a member’s name and numeric index are on the club’s master report.

WITHDRAWALS:  To withdraw for any reason players MUST notify the NCGA Rules and Competitions Department at (831) 625-4653.  Failure to notify the NCGA will cause the player to be listed as a NO SHOW resulting in a ONE-YEAR SUSPENSION FROM ALL NCGA EVENTS FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR FOLLOWING THE INFRACTION.  A player who only contacts the course and NOT the NCGA will incur the suspension.

ONLINE WITHDRAWALS:  Players that enter online may also withdraw online before 12:00 p.m. Monday prior to a tournament that starts on Thursday; or before 12:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to a tournament that starts on Monday.  After that, players must contact the NCGA directly.

SUBSTITUTIONS: Allowed prior to qualifying only, except for Zone events and Team Match.  For Club Events Only:  All substitutions must be made by the tournament chairman or a club official ¾ not the player.  A player withdrawing needs to contact his club and then the official will contact the NCGA with their substitute.  Note: No substitutions will be accepted for any Thursday qualifiers after 5:00 p.m. the previous Tuesday.

NO SHOWS: A player who does not show up and does not notify the NCGA shall receive a ONE-YEAR SUSPENSION FROM ALL NCGA EVENTS FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR FOLLOWING THE INFRACTION.  This includes team/club events.  NO SHOWS also include a player who starts and withdraws prior to the close of the competition and has not turned in his scorecard personally to a tournament official.  Failure to comply will result in the same one-year suspension.

REFUNDS: Refund less $5.00 if requested prior to closing date.  NO REFUNDS WITHIN 2 BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT.   MAILED/PAPER ENTRIES:  50% refunds given after closing date BUT PLAYER MUST NOTIFY the NCGA by Monday at 5:00 p.m., prior to a tournament that begins on Thursday; or by Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. prior to a tournament that begins on Monday.   ONLINE ENTRIES: After closing, a 50% refund will be honored up to Monday at MIDNIGHT, prior to a qualifying tournament or a championship that starts on Thursday; or by Wednesday at MIDNIGHT, prior to a tournament that begins on Monday. 

DRESS CODE: PLAYERS and CADDIES must be properly attired both on the golf course and premises of the club.  Blue jeans, designer jeans, T-shirts and tank tops are prohibited.  Golf shirts must be worn and shorts must be no shorter than mid-thigh (no jean shorts).  DRESS CODE IS THE SAME FOR MEN AND WOMEN.  This dress code will be used at all NCGA tournaments in conjunction with any additional dress code restrictions of the particular golf course you are assigned.  A player or caddie violating this dress code will not be permitted to start the competition.  A violation of this dress code by either the player or his caddie during the stipulated round must be rectified without undue delay or the player will not be allowed to continue play or the caddie will not be allowed to perform the acts of a caddie.

SPECTATORS:   Walking spectators are always welcome at NCGA Championships.  However, for qualifying events, contact the assigned course regarding its policy.  SPECTATORS ARE PROHIBITED FROM USING GOLF CARTS. 

GOLF CARTS:  When golf carts are permitted in a USGA/CGA/NCGA event, its use is limited to transporting players and/or their clubs.  When a player is prohibited from riding, the player’s caddie is also prohibited from riding.  Only two carts are permitted per foursome.

CELLULAR PHONES: The use of cellular phones or similar electronic devices by a player or his caddie during a stipulated round is prohibited.  Failure to observe this condition of the competition may result in disciplinary action including withdrawing a player’s playing privileges for the rest of the championship or for the same event the following year.

INCOMPLETE ROUNDS IN QUALIFIERS: When weather conditions or darkness threaten to suspend  play during a NCGA qualifying event, the following procedure will be used to determine the qualifier from that site.  Play will consist of two stipulated rounds of nine holes each.  If the entire field completes 18 holes, qualifying will be based on the total score for the two stipulated rounds.  If the entire field completes nine holes only, the qualifying score will be based on the nine-hole stipulated round.  If this is an individual net competition, the player’s score will be his gross score minus any handicap strokes he is allowed on that nine.

NCGA WOMEN COMPETITORS:

Net Competitions: Women will compete from the forward tees in all NCGA Events.  Final course handicaps will be adjusted based on the difference between the men’s and women’s course ratings. Differences of .5 or greater will be rounded upward. 
Scratch Competitions: When men and women compete in a NCGA scratch competition, they will play from separate tees.  Whenever the prepared teeing grounds permit, the women’s yardage will be set at 88-92% of the men’s yardage.  When setting the golf course, the men’s tees will be set at the yardage most appropriate for the competition.  After the men’s tees are set, the committee will attempt to reach the 88-92% guideline for women’s tees while preserving similar shot values. 

QUALIFYING SPOTS:  The number of spots available at each qualifying site will be determined based on the number of entries received prior to the entry closing date for each event listed.  Final number of spots per qualifying course will be available from the committee on the day of qualifying.

ENTRIES ON THE WEBSITE: All NCGA non-club events and CGA entries, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CGA NET AMATEUR, may be printed from our website under “Tournaments.” To enter by mail, print the entire entry including all policies and procedures.  Fill out completely, sign and mail to our lock box with the entry fee to be received by the close date.  Late and incomplete entries will be returned without action.  You are highly encouraged to register online rather than printing and mailing your entry.


CHAMPIONSHIP (GROSS) QUALIFYING PERFORMANCE:

The NCGA expects all contestants in championship qualifying play to exhibit playing skills that are comparable with their peers.  Consequently, all non-exempt players who submit an entry for the tournaments listed below must qualify in 2006.  Any player who does not return an 18-hole score during qualifying that is within 10 strokes (NCGA Senior - 12 strokes) of the USGA/NCGA course rating or the highest qualifying score (whichever is higher) will be denied entry into the same event in 2007.

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
Entries Close: March 1, 2006.  Qualifying Date: March 30, 2006.  Qualifying Sites: TBD.  Championship Dates: May 1-2, 2006.  Championship Site: Ruby Hill CC.  Entry Code:  #3073.2.  Entry Fee: $55.  Players qualifying for the championship at Ruby Hill CC will pay an additional $110.  Exempt players pay only $110.

ELIGIBILITY: Players must have reached their 55th birthday by May 1, 2006 and have a numeric index on the March 1 master report of 7.4 or less.
EXEMPTIONS
FORMAT: 18 holes sectional qualifying.  84 players and ties, including exempts and super seniors (65+) will advance to Ruby Hill CC.  Championship proper will be 36 holes of stroke play (18 holes per day).  Non-exempt super seniors (65+) will be required to go to sectional qualifying.  If a limited number of super senior entries are received, then the number of qualifying sites may also be limited.  At the championship proper, super seniors will compete for their own medals, as well as the overall championship medal.

FOUR-BALL STROKE PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP (Two-Person Better Ball)
Entries Close: March 8, 2006.  Qualifying Date: April 6, 2006.  Qualifying Sites: TBD.  Championship Date: May 12-14, 2006.  Championship Site: Spyglass Hill GC.  Entry Code: #3079.2.  Entry Fee: $110 per team.  Teams qualifying for the championship proper will pay an additional $300 per team.  Exempt teams pay only $300.

 

ELIGIBILITY: A numeric index listed on the March 1 master report of 5.4 or less.  Partners need not be members of the same club. 
EXEMPTIONS
FORMAT:  18 holes qualifying four-ball stroke play.  56 teams plus ties and exempts will advance to Spyglass Hill GC.  Championship proper will be 54 holes of four-ball stroke play, 18 holes per day.  After 36 holes, the field is cut to 40 teams and ties.
SUBSTITUTIONS: No substitutions will be accepted after 5 PM Tuesday prior to the Thursday qualifier.  Teams qualifying for the championship are prohibited from making substitutions; however, one partner may represent the team for all or any part of a stipulated round.

SENIOR NET CHAMPIONSHIP

ELIGIBILITY: Players must have reached their 55th birthday by June 1, 2006 and have a numeric index listed on the April 1 Master Report of 7.5 to 36.4 (40.4 for women) inclusive.
FORMAT: 18 holes qualifying for all flights.  Flights (President, Director and Secretary) will be determined by dividing all entries into three equal groups by index.  36 players from each flight will advance to Poppy Hills GC.  The championship proper will be 36 holes of stroke play (18 holes per day) at 100% of course handicap.

MASTER DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

AMATEUR STROKE PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

ELIGIBILITY: All boys who have reached their 12th birthday and all girls who have reached their 15th birthday by August 7, 2006 and all boys and girls who have not reached their 18th birthday by August 8, 2006.  NCGA MEMBERSHIP IS NOT REQUIRED.
EXEMPTIONS
FORMAT: 18 holes qualifying for all boys and girls.  Championship proper is 54 holes for boys, ages 14-17; 36 holes on the first day with the field cut to 48 players and ties for an 18-hole final the second day.  Boys, ages 12-13 and all girls will play 18 holes each day with no cut.  NO CARTS OR CADDIES PERMITTED.

 

AMATEUR MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

FORMAT: 18 holes qualifying.  100 players plus ties (including exempts) will advance to the championship proper.  Championship play is 36 holes of stroke play (18 holes per day).  32 players will advance from stroke play to single elimination Match Play beginning on Wednesday and concluding on Friday.

PUBLIC LINKS CHAMPIONSHIP
Entries Close: June 14, 2006.  Qualifying Date: July 20, 2006.  Qualifying Sites: TBD.  Championship Date: August 28-29, 2006.  Championship Site: Spyglass Hill GC.  Entry Code: #3067.2.  Entry Fee: $55.  Players qualifying for the championship proper will pay an additional $110.  Exempt players pay only $110.

ELIGIBILITY: A numeric index listed on the June 1 master report of 4.4 or less for the championship flight.  Players entering the handicap flights must have a numeric index of 4.5 to 36.4 (40.4 for women) inclusive.  Handicap entries will be divided equally into two (Presidents and Directors) flights.  PLAYERS UNDER 18 years of age are ineligible for the handicap flights. 
EXEMPTIONS (Championship Flight Only)
MEMBERSHIP RESTRICTIONS: The NCGA adheres to the USGA membership restrictions for entry into the Public Links Championship.  Contestants must be bona fide public course players who do not hold playing privileges in any course from which the general public is excluded or privileges in any private club maintaining its own course.  Exceptions: A bona fide public course member may hold incidental privileges in a course not open to the public when such privileges are provided by: (1) An educational institution of which he is a student; or (2) Federal Armed Service of which he is a member; or (3) An industry by which he is employed.
FORMAT: 18 holes qualifying for all flights (index used for handicap flights).  In the championship flight, 36 players (including exempts) will advance to the championship proper.  In handicap competition, 36 players from the Presidents flight and 36 from the Directors flight will advance to the championship proper for 36 holes (18 holes per day) of play at 100% of course handicap.

 

PARENT/CHILD CHAMPIONSHIP
Entries Close: June 21, 2006.  Field limited to first 78 eligible teams entered.  Championship Date: July 17-18, 2006.  Championship Site: Poppy Ridge GC.  Entry Code: #3072.2.  Entry Fee: $110 per team, which includes a pairings party.  Partners may have more than one generation between them (i.e. a grandfather may play with his grandson).

ELIGIBILITY: Both team members must be members of the NCGA and have a numeric index listed on the June 1 master report not to exceed 36.4 (men) or 40.4 (women).  Relationship with the child must be natural, adopted or stepchild.  Child is no longer required to be under 18 years of age.  Partners may have more than one generation between them (i.e.  A grandfather may play with his grandson).

FORMAT: Foursome (alternate shot) Gross/Net Stroke Play.  36 holes - 18 holes per day.  Entries will be placed into flights.  Men will play from the middle tees and women will play from the forward tees.  Course handicaps for women will be adjusted accordingly.  Team handicap is 50% of partners’ combined course handicaps.
OVER SUBSCRIPTION: Entries will be accepted on a “first come, first serve” basis.  Entries received after the field is complete (78 teams) will be placed on a waiting list in the order received

WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

Entries Close: June 28, 2006.  Championship Date: July 27-28, 2006.  Championship Site: Poppy Hills GC.  Entry Code: #3082.2.  Entry Fee:  $110.  Field will be filled on a “first come, first serve” basis. 

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all NCGA women members with a numeric index on the June 1 master report.  Championship Flight (7.4 index or less as of the close date) will be limited to the first 36 entrants.  After that, entries will be placed on an alternate list in the order received.  Net flights (18 years of age or older and a 7.5 index and higher) are limited to the first 72 entries.  Players entering in the net flights will be divided into two separate flights for the championship based on their July 1, 2006 index.

FORMAT: 36 holes stroke play.  In handicap competition, play will be at 100% of course handicap.

VALLEY AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
Entries Close: July 26, 2006.  Qualifying Date: August 31, 2006.  Qualifying Sites: TBD.  Championship Date: September 25-26, 2006.  Championship Site: TBD.  Entry Code: #3066.2.  Entry Fee: $55.  Players qualifying for the championship proper will pay an additional $110.  Exempt players pay only $110.

EXEMPTIONS: 
FORMAT: 18 holes qualifying.  70 players (including exempts) will advance to the championship proper.  Championship play is 36 holes (18 holes per day). 

VALLEY AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP, SENIOR DIVISION

ELIGIBILITY: Players must have reached their 55^th birthday by September 25, 2006 and have a numeric index of 7.4 or less listed on the July 1 master report. 
EXEMPTIONS
FORMAT: 18 holes qualifying.  30 players (including exempts) will advance to the championship proper.  Championship play is 36 holes (18 holes per day). 

MASTER DIVISION FOUR-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Entries Close: August 9, 2006.  Qualifying Date: September 7, 2006.  Qualifying Sites: TBD.  Championship Date: October 2-3, 2006.  Championship Site: Poppy Ridge GC.  Entry Code: #3080.2.  Entry Fee: $110 per team.  Teams qualifying for the championship proper will pay an additional $220 per team.  Exempt teams pay only $220.
 

ELIGIBILITY: Players must have reached their 40th birthday by October 2nd and not reached their 55th birthday by October 3, 2006 and have a numeric index listed on the August 1 master report of 5.4 or less.  Partners need not be members of the same club. 
EXEMPTIONS
FORMAT:  18 holes qualifying four-ball stroke play.  52 teams including exempts will advance to Poppy Ridge GC.  Championship proper will be 36 holes of four-ball stroke play, 18 holes per day.  SUBSTITUTIONS: No substitutions will be accepted after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the Thursday qualifier. Teams qualifying for the championship are prohibited from making substitutions; however, one partner may represent the team for all or any part of a stipulated round.

SENIOR FOUR-BALL STROKE PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP

Entries Close: August 16, 2006.  Championship Date: September 11-13, 2006.  Championship Site: Poppy Hills GC.  Entry Code: #3074.2.  Entry Fee: $300 per team.  Field limited to the first 92 teams.

ELIGIBILITY: Players must have reached their 55th birthday by September 11, 2006 and have a numeric index on the August 1 master report of 9.4 or less.  Partners need not be members of the same club.
EXEMPTIONS
FORMAT: 54 holes Four-Ball Stroke Play (18 holes per day) over three days.  After 36 holes the field will be cut to 40 teams and ties. 
 

*WOMEN’S FOUR-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Entries Close:  September 6, 2006.  Championship Date:  October 12-13, 2006.  Championship Site:  Poppy Ridge GC.  Entry Code:  XXXXX.  Entry Fee:  $220 per team.  Field limited to first 56 teams.

ELIGIBILITY:  Open to all NCGA women members with a numeric index on the September 1 master report. You must belong to a NCGA club (NCGA golf club numbers begin with either a 53 or 63).

FORMAT:  36 holes Four-Ball Stroke Play (18 holes per day).  Flights (President, Director and Secretary) will be determined by dividing all entries into three equal groups based on the team's combined course handicaps. Play will be 95% of the player's course handicap.  If partners’ course handicaps differ more than 8 strokes, an additional 10 % reduction will be applied to their course handicap.

OVER SUBSCRIPTION: Entries will be accepted on a “first come, first serve” basis.  Entries received after the field is complete (56 teams) will be placed on a waiting list in the order received.

MIXED TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

 ASSOCIATE CLUB TEAM MATCH

Entries Close: April 12, 2006.  The program will be a weekly team competition between players that belong to an NCGA Associate Club beginning June 13.  All regular season matches will be played at Poppy Ridge GC.  Players are responsible for green fees and cart fees during the regular season and playoffs.  Championship Date: September 5, 2006 Championship Site: Poppy Ridge GC.  Entry Code: 3087.2.  Entry Fee: $200 per team.

 ELIGIBILITY: Team members must be at least 18 years of age and listed on their club’s June 1 master report.  A player may only represent one team. All players with indexes up to 36.4 (men) or 40.4 (women) are eligible but must play to a maximum index of 18.4. Entries will be received on a “first come, first serve” basis. Standings compiled throughout the season will be maintained at the NCGA office and will be the basis for playoffs that lead to the finals at Poppy Ridge.

FORMAT:  8 players per team compete in each match. A team of two players play the opposing team of two players in three simultaneous matches:  two individual matches and a Four-Ball (best ball of partners) match. Individual matches are played for 2 points.  The Four-Ball match is also played for 2 points.  There are 6 points possible in each group.

TEAM MATCH

ELIGIBILITY:  NCGA regular member clubs maintaining at least one 18-hole regulation golf course (5,000 yards or more).  Team members must be at least 21 years of age and listed on their clubs June 1 master report.  Clubs are limited to entering only one team in Thursday play and one team on Saturday, unless the club maintains two regulation 18-hole courses.  A player may only represent one club and one team.  All players with indexes up to 36.4 (men) or 40.4 (women) are eligible but must play to a maximum index of 18.4.
FORMAT:  12 players per team compete in each match.  A team of two players plays the opposing team of two, playing three matches simultaneously - two individual matches and a four-ball match (best ball of two).  Each of the three matches is played for two points.  There are six points possible in each team pairing.

CALIFORNIA GOLF ASSOCIATION 

CHAMPIONSHIP (GROSS) QUALIFYING PERFORMANCE:

The CGA expects all contestants in championship qualifying play to exhibit playing skills that are comparable with their peers.  Consequently, all non-exempt players who submit an entry for the tournaments listed below must qualify in 2006.  Any player who does not return an 18-hole score during qualifying that is within 10 strokes (CGA Senior - 12 strokes) of the USGA/NCGA course rating will be denied entry into the same event in 2007.

CGA NET AMATEUR MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP  
Entries Close:  March 29, 2006.  Championship Date:  June 19-22, 2006.  Championship Sites: Bayonet GC/Black Horse GC/Laguna Seca GC/Del Monte GC.  Entry Code:  #3013.16.  Field limited to the first 192 North players.  Entry Fee: $175.  Entry fee does not include cart.  NOTE:  ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL BE AVAILABLE STARTING FEBRUARY 1, 2006 at 8:00 AM.

ELIGIBILITY:  A numeric index listed on the March 1 master report of 4.5 to 36.4 (40.4 for women) inclusive.  No players under 18 years of age.
FORMAT:  Match Play.  All players are guaranteed two rounds.  First round is double elimination with losers placed in a Consolation Bracket.  Single elimination thereafter.  Women will play from the forward tees and men from the middle tees.  Course handicaps for women will be adjusted accordingly.  The April 1 index will be used for determining flights.  The championship will be played using the June 1 or April 1 index, whichever is lower.  The committee has the right to adjust a player’s course handicap prior to the competition.
REFUND POLICY:  Requests for refunds received through May 26, 2006 will be honored (less a $50 handling fee) for contestants withdrawing from the competition.  Requests for refunds from contestants withdrawing after May 26, 2006 will not be honored.
OVER SUBSCRIPTION:  All entries are received on a “first come, first serve basis.”  Once the field is filled, subsequent entries will be placed on an alternate list in the order they are received.  Once all players are placed into flights using the April 1 index, alternates will be placed into flights according to the April 1 index and remain in the same order by date of receipt.


CGA AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

NOTE:  The championship committee reserves the right to move players when desired sites are oversubscribed based upon date of entry.

ELIGIBILITY:  A numeric index of 4.4 or less on the March 1 master report.   Players belonging to clubs in both Northern California and Southern California may submit an entry for both NCGA and SCGA qualifying but can only play in one qualifying round.
FORMAT: Qualifying -18 holes.  156 players (78 North/78 South) including exempts will advance to the championship proper. Championship:  36 holes (18 holes per day) of stroke play at Poppy Hills GC.  Top 60 players will move to Pebble Beach GL for additional 18 holes stroke play. Top 32 players will advance from stroke play to single elimination match play beginning on Thursday and concluding on Saturday with a 36-hole match between the two finalists.
REFUND POLICY:  Requests for refunds received through March 31, 2006 (for qualifying) and June 9, 2006 (for championship) will be honored (less a $25 handling fee) for contestants withdrawing from the competition.  Requests for refunds after the above dates will not be honored.


CGA SENIOR AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

ELIGIBILITY:  Players must have reached their 55th birthday by June 22, 2006 and have a numeric index of 7.4 or less on the April 1 master report.  Eligible players may attempt to qualify for both the California Amateur and CGA Senior Amateur Championships.  However, if they qualify for both, they must choose to play in one or the other, not both.  ONLY ONE ENTRY FOR THE SAME EVENT MAY BE FILED PER PLAYER, even if the player belongs to clubs in both Northern
EXEMPTIONS
FORMAT:  Qualifying -18 holes.  112 players (56 North /56 South) including exempts will advance to the championship proper.  Championship - 54 holes of stroke play (18 holes per day).  After 36 holes are completed, the field is cut to the low 33 players and ties for the final 18 holes.
