*AFRP: Annual Fall Renewal Period
In recent months the USGA has announced that, effective 2012, all handicaps in the entire country will be revised on the 1st and 15th of every month. Rather than waiting for the inevitable, the NCGA has decided to embrace this schedule immediately. Beginning January 2010, NCGA handicaps will be revised on the 1st and 15th of each month . . . 24 revisions in all for 2010. This new revision schedule will offer more timely handicap updates during our peak seasons and to those who post a lot of scores. The NCGA billing process for the clubs will not change.
These are the dates that electronic transmissions of scores and transactions must be received by GHIN in order to appear on the following 1st and 15th of-the-month handicaps.
All cut-off dates fall on the 14th or last day of the month. This means that any scores and transactions successfully transmitted to GHIN by 6:00 p.m. (P.S.T.) on the evening of the 14th or last day of the month will be reflected handicaps issued the following day.
Golfers can view their current Handicap Index via 1) the popular Handicap Look-up feature on our website; 2) an automatic e-mail revision report (nearly 90,000 NCGA members currently subscribe); and 3) via computer screen at all NCGA golf courses (steps are being taken so that the current Handicap Index of every NCGA member will be directly available at every NCGA golf course).
In order to maximize the benefit of this new schedule and ensure that the new handicaps are properly displayed on the 1st, clubs should transmit by the late afternoon of the 14th and last day of the month and must perform a successful transmission the mornings of the 1st and 15th. Clubs at golf courses can achieve the latter by setting their daily automatic transmit time to the early morning.
